About the carver
I was born and grew up in Rumson, New Jersey, which is a peninsula located between the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers just south of Sandy Hook. My home and shop are located in the part of Rumson that was once known as Oceanic. This area at one time was a small village that was home to fishermen and watermen who made their livings on the Navesink River. While I do not make a living on the river, I spend time on it year round fishing, hunting, crabbing and clamming.
All decoys are constructed of tupelo, Atlantic white cedar or high density tan cork. Full size decoys are hollow carved as well as miniatures if practical. Waterproof glue and marine grade sealers are used on all carvings as well as high quality acrylic or oil paint, assuring that the decoys will last for generations to come. Many of the decoys pictured on the site have been awarded ribbons for competition at decoy shows including the Master Carver Award at the New Jersey Decoy and Gunning show in Tuckerton.
Most of the decoys pictured on this site have been purchased by collectors or hunters and may not be available for sale. While an inventory is usually available, commissions are always accepted and decoys made to the customers specifications. Feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail to discuss your interests. Orders are promptly filled and can be shipped anywhere, however they should be placed as far in advance as possible. Checks, money orders and credit cards are accepted.
Thanks for visiting Oceanic Decoys! Be sure to visit the site again frequently for updates and upcoming events.
